Cybertruck Paint Protection

November 3, 2024

So, you’ve got a Cybertruck… Awesome! Naturally, you’re going to want to protect those incredible good looks from damage—and that means paint protection.

But before you get caught up in the excitement of ceramic coating and/or paint protection film, a word of warning… The unique stainless-steel alloy that the truck is made from means that not all ceramic coating is compatible.

Because of this, it’s vital that you understand what you can and can’t use for Cybertruck paint protection. Read on for more info…

Everything You Need to Know about Cybertruck Paint Protection

Maintenance must-knows…

Without wanting to state the obvious, the Tesla Cybertruck isn’t like other vehicles…  This is not your typical painted car. It’s made from a patented stainless-steel alloy that’s similar to Musk’s SpaceX. This is wicked—but it also means that there’s no factory paint protection included.

In practical terms, this means that debris and dirt lands on the alloy itself. So, if you’re not careful, this can cause permanent scratches to the surface that are unable to be polished out (like you can do on a vehicle with regular paintwork).

If you only take one thing away from this read, it’s that you should clean your Cybertruck as soon as it gets dirty to reduce the likelihood of this happening.

Unless, that is, you install some decent Cybertruck paint protection…

Installing Cybertruck paint protection

OK, so here’s the thing. Not all paint protection products are suitable for the Cybertruck. Ceramic coating, in particular, needs to be a particular formula to be safe to use on stainless-steel alloy. This means that you should be very careful to only entrust an installation to a provider that’s experienced with the Cybertruck and provides a guarantee that they’ll use the right product.

Now we’ve got that out of the way, let’s look at the two options (three, actually) that you have for the best Cybertruck paint protection.

  1. Ceramic Coating: This is a great paint protection choice. The nanotechnology of ceramic adds a super-hard, invisible, permanent layer to the surface that stops debris bonding from the alloy. It also protects from UV rays, chemical attack (bird droppings, acid rain, tree sap, etc.), minor scratches, and is hydrophobic. The latter makes the vehicle easier to keep clean. Ceramic coating also adds an incredible shine (or enhances the depth of matt, if that’s your vehicle’s vibe).
  2. Paint protection film (PPF): This is also a good option and, if you want, can be added to the individual panels and areas that are more susceptible to damage—the hood, the front lights, the fender, mirrors, etc. But nothing beats having it applied to the entire vehicle, in our humble opinion… While PPF is clear, you can also opt for a color wrap to change up the look of your Cybertruck to whatever hue or finish you require.

And the third option? That’s to install a PPF/wrap—ceramic coating combo. This is, quite literally, the best way to protect the Cybertruck’s exterior from the elements. Not only will it keep your ride looking fantastic for years to come, but it’ll increase the resale value (just in case, you know, you might want to upgrade in the future).
